Bradley Leighton with She’s Gone courtesy of the Pacific Coast Jazz Release entitled Soul Collective. Our Personal Thanks to Donna Nichols for this introduction.
Bradley Leighton brings a unique and powerful sound to flute. His style of swing evolved from listening to the big, hi-octane bands of Kenton, Herman and Ferguson in the 60’s-70’s. His funkiness derives from years of listening to Tower of Power, Earth, Wind & Fire, the Brecker Brothers and countless other soul/R&B acts. He brings a fire and flair not usually heard nor expected from a flutist.
Bradley has performed across the US and Asia, as both side man and band leader, for over 25 years. His most recent gigs included opening the Greater Hartford Jazz Festival for Joyce Cooling and Gerald Albright and headlining the Gainesville Jazz Festival. In addition to recording and performing, Bradley Leighton has continued to share his knowledge and enthusiasm of music as a clinician and teacher. Besides private lessons, he leads workshops for musicians of all skill levels, including, ‘Jazz Improvisation for the Classically Trained Flutist,’ and ‘Music For Life – Improvisation for the Adult Amateur Musician.’ He is also a Yahama Performing Artist.

This track is Smooth Jazz perfection from start to finish, do check this out his website where you can hear samples of the album, view his previous albums and find links to on line purchases. There are some nice cover versions of old favourites too. You might remember Tom Braxton playing on IP Network’s track called Job Hopper back in season 3 episode 15. Tom lists his great influences, in the senior school its his Dad, saxophonist James Braxton, also Cannonball Adderley,Sonny Stit , John Coltrane, Charlie Parker, and Miles Davis and in the New School: Grover Washington, Kirk Whalum, David Sanborn, Michael Brecker, Jean-Luc Ponty and Steely Dan.
In our Friends section and amazingly in tune (!) with the new bond release we have:
Tape Five with a View to a Kill
This is the new single by TAPE FIVE featuring Iain Mackenzie, from their New album for November 2008 entitled, ‘Swingfood Mood 2nd Edition’, that also contains remixed and remastered material. It is an amazing Jazzed Up cover version of a song originally performed by Duran Duran, from the 1985 film which starred Roger Moore, Christopher Walken, Tanya Roberts, Grace Jones, and Patrick Macnee. It was the fourteenth Bond film and the last of seven to star Roger Moore as James Bond. Find out more about Tape Five from www.myspace.com/tapefive and www.tapefive.com. Also unless you’ve been far too shaken and stirred to notice, a new Bond film is upon us for released in November 2008, entitled, Quantum Of Solace starring Daniel Craig.
