PlayHouse – The Runaround
NB Track listing approved by Group/Artist
Here’s a band that’s completely new to us, gr8 to meet them on MySpace, they are from Columbus, Ohio in the U.S. and describe themselves as sonic ‘Rubix-cube of electronic dance music with a thick jazzy shell’.

Fabio Mignola – Take Me Higher
NB Track listing approved by Group/Artist
Another Fresh and new to us artist is Smooth Jazz Guitarist, Producer & Composer Fabio Mignola, from Switzerland, This is the title track from his latest CD ‘Take Me higher”

Chris Standring from the new CD Love and Paragraphs
From the incredible CD, ‘Love and Paragraphs’. Doc read a wonderful review at – It suggests that, ‘The crispness is immediately noticeable. What’s also noticeable is the melody on each piece.’
Also please check out Chris’s awesome initiative called The Jazz Matrix.

Soul Sensation Segment

Phyllis Hyman – available from the 1999 release, Under Her Spell
Did you know that she did background vocals on Jon Lucien’s Premonition. It was during one of her club performances that she was spotted by Norman Connors, who offered her a spot as a vocalist on his album, You Are My Starship (1976). The duo scored on the R&B charts with a remake of The Stylistics, ‘Betcha by Golly Wow!’

Teddy Pendergrass
A singer with a very distinctive soulful voice. One that had many of his fans emotionally uplifted, if thats the right way to put it,  a singer that performed with Harold Melvin and the Blue notes before embarking on a solo career.

Bring it Back Segment

EWF & Kenny G from the album ‘Illunination’
Can you believe that the band was formed in 1969 ! That means along with next years celebrations of the 50th landing on the Moon, they’ll be celebrating an anniversary too!

Boney James from the CD entitled ‘Shine’
Doc found it fascinating to read from his website.’You’d never know it from the effortlessly soulful melodies and silky grooves of his records, but Boney James becomes a mad scientist in the studio while working to create sounds that feel as soothing as a tropical breeze’.
He has worked with lots of people and many of you will know of his fantastic collaborations with Rick Braun

Torcuato Mariano
A personal favourite of the Prof’s from a 1995 album entitled, ‘Last Look’, this is an amazing Guitarist and Producer originally from  Buenos Aires who moved to Brazil as a teenager.

Prof was telling the Doc back in November that he  noticed Christmas lights appearing on some of London’s streets and lots of Christmas decorations in the shops. He stated that it all ‘looks a bit too early for me, but one thing that can be done well before the indulgences of the Christmas celebrations, is to bring forward your new years resolution, or for me a new years revolution ..of excersise, weight loss and getting fit. And what better way  to warm up to your workout by moving to music. So try this for starters, Tom & Joyce.

We hope you like the format for the new season. We value your feedback and your ears.
Looking forward to hearing from you.

Doctor Groove and Professor Smooth

PS The next episode will be a dance special, for the pre and post Christmas/Holiday season parties!
