“Carry On Podcasting”… A Carry On  Episode By The Prof.

Welcome to the New Season of Shows – Season Seven!

In our intro and outro we remember the Carry On Films with the help of the film music by the late Eric Rogers and Bruce Montgomery with the City Of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Gavin Sutherland and snippets from a 1999  CD  called The Carry On Album .

Our Track Selection  

1    Isaac Hayes  Academy Award winning  songwriter, musician, singer, and actor.from the album “New Horizon”

2    Mazelo Nostra –    from an album called Midnight Grooves  (Finest chillout Lounge and Jazz) written by Marcus Zelonka, A 2011 Summer Release.

3    Kirk Whalum  Smooth jazz saxophonist and songwriter whose described on his website as Soulful, passionate, and stirring with a big, rich tenor sound that’s unmistakably his. This track features gospel music singer Jevetta_Steele and appears on his 1993 CD called ‘Caché’

4    Stafford Brothers & Bongo Boy Reported as the fastest growing phenomenon in Australian dance music. DJs known as the Stafford Brothers, here they are joined by Bongo Boy and a track with an  unusual but perfectly justified title. It appears on a CD compilation called Ghetto Paradise.

5    Gilberto Gil   A real Brazillian uplifter now that appeared on an album called Luar in 1981 and also on a 12” single which I rushed out and bought on hearing this awesome track on the radio.

6    MFSB   http://www.gamble-huffmusic.com    Mother Father Sister Brother, a pool of over 30 musicians assembled by record producers Kenneth Gamble and Leon Huff, MFSB was the house band for their Philadelphia International Records label and originated the signature smooth “Philly sound” -from their 3rd album , released in 1975.  The Label Celebrated 40 years of making great music.

7    Roy Ayers – A favourite artist of ours with tons of gr8 tunes over the years is Roy Ayers, who in 1981 released an awesome album called Africa, Centre of The World.

8    Ralph Macdonald – from his album Counterpoint from 1979. Probably his best-known composition is the Grover Washington, Jr. – Bill Withers hit “Just the Two of Us”. Ralph has worked with many other gr8 names including James Taylor, Billy Joel, Bette Midler, Diana Ross Burt Bacharach, George Benson, David Bowie, Aretha Franklin,  Luther Vandross, Amy Winehouse, Bob James, Ashford and Simpson, The Brothers Johnson, and George Benson, providing percussion on his 1976 album, Breezin’. He also co-wrote the Grover Washington Jr. hit “Mr. Magic” . Sadly he passed away in December 2011.

9    Phil Sheeran – guitarist and composer whose educational background is in jazz, classical & Brazilian music. You must checkout the music of Phil Sheeran and enjoy this delightful track which appears on an album called Orchid.

10   The Cool Notes  –  The Sound Of Summer, a band that originally made lovers rock/ reggae music before having hits in the 80s with songs like “In You Car” and “Spend The Night”  – From South London

The Music Will Carry On, The artists will Carry On playing , composing and singing and we’ll Carry On presenting and hopefully we’ll all Carry On listening and purchasing.  And we’ll Carry On remembering films and TV shows.
